CAMPBELLTOWN TEMPORARY LIBRARY
Campbelltown is planning a new central library within its future civic precinct, but this facility won't be operational for several years. In the meantime, the existing Campbelltown Library on Hurley Street will be demolished to make way for a new integrated cancer care centre.
To ensure continued access to library services, the HJ Daley Library has been temporarily relocated to the former Spotlight building at Downtown Plaza, 147–157 Queen Street. The new site opens to the public on Monday, August 4.
With a limited budget, the design prioritises reuse and waste minimisation. The large tenancy lacks natural openings, so the focus is on creating vibrant, inviting reading spaces. Bright carpet inserts, bold lighting, and soon-to-be-installed colourful curtains animate the interior. At the entrance, key functions—including the information desk, returns, computers, printers, and photocopiers—are organised along vibrant colour bands, interspersed with informal, comfortable seating areas.
